The salmon Museum, opened in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in 2004 – only in Russia. Exhibits and expositions of the Museum tell about the biodiversity of salmon of Kamchatka, geography and habitats of Pacific salmon, on the biology of fish, methods of reproduction: artificial and natural, the history of development of fishery conservation measures, ways of cooking salmon from the Neolithic age to the third Millennium.
Poster materials supplemented by voluminous exhibits. In the exposition section "food chains" is told about the place of salmon in the ecosystem of the North. Section "Environmental traditions of the aborigines of Kamchatka" tells about an ancient connection of this family of fishes and the indigenous population of Kamchatka, its place in the life of the Kamchadals.
The salmon Museum will answer questions from curious tourists: "Why the salmon meat pink? ", "As salmon finds its way from the ocean to their native river during spawning? ", "How high can a salmon jump? ", "How far can salmon swim in a day?" and many others.
The salmon Museum is fun to visit, not only for adults but also for children. The Museum can be visited by arrangement.
