Governor's Park is a monument of landscape architecture and is located on Lenin square and the Avenue of Karl Marx in Petrozavodsk. But the most outstanding feature is the amazing view maples, as well as the most popular exhibition of the first products of the Alexandrovsky factory, which is located under the open sky. The name of the Park received through the first Petrozavodsk Governor Gavril Derzhavin. A bronze monument to the famous poet and illustrious nobleman is located in the heart of Governor's Park.

Ceremony for the opening of the monument to G. R. Derzhavin happened on the eve of the 260-th anniversary of the birth of the famous Russian poet. The monument was erected in Petrozavodsk is not in vain, because Derzhavin state activity was directly connected with Karelia – Gavrila Romanovich was the Governor of Olonets province.
