Pleven is a city in Northern Bulgaria. There are several art galleries and is one of the most interesting and famous art gallery is Svetlina Rusev ("Collection of gifts Svetlina Rusev"). This famous Bulgarian artist, painter, and cultural activist and art collector, was born in Pleven and lived here for a long time.
Rusev worked as a teacher at the Sofia national Academy of arts, and Director of the state art gallery, presided over the Union of Bulgarian artists for many years. Svetlin Rusev in 1985, gave his hometown a vast collection of Bulgarian art, classical and modern, and African and Eastern. The Fund and laid the basis for the permanent gallery, named in honor of the donor. In the "Collection grants" to date, contains more than four hundred of valuable specimens of art – paintings and sculptures gathered Rusev for many years.
The gallery is located in a building that in the early 20th century, was designed by the famous Bulgarian architect Nikola Lazarov and served as public baths. This building with Moorish architectural style is also a monument of culture.
On the ground floor of the gallery exhibited paintings of famous Bulgarian painters of the 20th century (first half), among them - Vladimir Dimitrov–the master, Banco Obreshkov, Tsanko Lavrenov, Zlatyu Boyadjiev, Kiril Petrov, Sirak Skitnik, Dechko Uzunov and others.
The second floor is mainly given to modern artists of Bulgaria, it demonstrates Weight Vasileva, Nikola Manev, Georgi Bozhilov, ENCHO Pironkov. In addition, there is the painting of the representative of the Vienna secession Josef Bauer and unknown French masters of the 17th century.
At the third level, which is located in the tower of the old baths, exhibited the work of Bulgarian engravers Sidonia Atanasova, Elijah Beshkov, Vladimir Dimitrov-the master. There are also paintings by famous international artists, including Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso, honoré Daumier, Maurice Denis, Marc Chagall, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Renato Guttuso, eugène Delacroix, Dali. In addition, here you can see the sculpture of Edgar Degas and Auguste Rodin.
