The wine Museum in Pleven – the only of its kind in the Balkans, is located opposite an artificial pond in a beautiful Park Kaylaka.
The appearance of the wine Museum in Pleven is no accident: since ancient times, the city is famous for its wine. In addition, Pleven is one of the main centers in the country, which has a thriving wine industry. Already in 1902, it hosted the opening of the National wine Institute, and in 1980 – opening of the first in Bulgaria, vocational school of winemaking and viticulture.
The unusual opening of the Museum took place in 2008, and the room was one of the caves of the Park, cross design which impresses visitors. Inside the Museum is divided into several thematic parts: the two tasting rooms on 50 places, historic hall and exhibition hall with wines.
Galleries of the cave are now stored wines from all regions of Bulgaria, and the number of bottles of wine in the Museum's collection exceeds 12000. Almost 7,000 bottles made up of the largest collection of rare old wines of different ages excerpts from 30 years to a century. The guides will share with attendees information about the history of viticulture and winemaking in the Balkans. It is the Bulgarian lands became witnesses of ancient history many favorite beverage. It is known that the Thracians drinking wine was a full-fledged sacred ritual, so they drank it neat.
A special part of the premises, the Museum has committed to the objects and photographs, showing the history of the production, specificity, and technology classes, depending on the region. It also exhibits ancient barrels and containers in which wine was produced, and Fiala, rhytons and other vessels for drinking sacred beverage.
