Just a short walk North of the ruins of the Royal Palace, lies the area known as Quadrangle, which is the ruins of ancient buildings, located on the raised area bounded by a wall. There is the largest concentration of centuries-old architectural heritage, which you will see in the ancient cities. Besides the ruins there also is a house of images, the bodhisattva temple and the Holy Bodhi tree. To set foot on this land, as in other shrines, only barefoot.

In the Southeast of the quadrangle is vatadage (round house relics) typical for Sri Lanka. Its outdoor terrace is 18m in diameter, and a second terrace has four inputs, which are the stone guards. Gal Pot (Stone book), is located to the East of the house of relics and is a colossal stone image of the book “Ola”.
