Opera theater. Stanislaus Moniuszki is located in Poznan and named after the famous Polish composer stanisław Moniuszko.

The theater building in neoclassical style was designed by an architect from Munich max Littmann. Former legacy theater building could no longer meet the requirements, so the city needed a new Opera house. The building was constructed in accordance with the rules architecture of ancient Rome. The façade is decorated with various sculptures, a symbol of the theater became a Pegasus. This exquisite hall with richly decorated walls and large crystal chandelier can accommodate 1000 spectators.

The first show – "the Magic flute" In..Mozart was shown in 1910. Nine years later, the theatre was purchased by the Polish authorities and quickly became one of the most important music scenes in the country. The first artistic Director was appointed Adam Dolzago, which position he held until 1922. One of the most prominent leaders was Zygmunt Latosinsky, whose work was interrupted by war. It was under him that the theatre was able to reach a level comparable to modern European scenes. The repertoire in the first two decades evolved from the works of Polish composers, as well as classic Italian and French Opera. In the prewar years at the Opera house hosted the premiere of the Opera "Sicilian Vespers" by Verdi, Puccini "Swallow" and "così fan tutte" by Mozart and others. During the war the theatre building received only minor damage, so in the postwar years, he quickly resumed his work. In 1949, the theater was renamed in honor of the composer stanisław Moniuszko.

The theatrical season lasts from mid-September to mid-June, in addition, each year the theater hosts the Polish-German festival ballet.
