Voronich - village in the Pskov region. Located at a distance of 3 km from Pushkin Mountains. Near the river Sorot, on the Bank of which is situated the village of the same name. Near Grigorkovo Park, in the centre of Voronich, the settlement is located Voronich. Now only ruins of the Fort.
Earlier, 14th-16th centuries, it was part of the fortifications along the South-Western border of Pskov. Voronich was important border strategic point, and an important trading point, a crossing point on the trade route passing from Moscow and Pskov in the direction of Lithuania and Poland. In the 15th century in this village there were whiter than 400 yards. According to popular legend, before there were 77 churches and monasteries, more than in other suburbs of Pskov. It was more than, for example, in Velha, Opochka, Ostrov and other cities.
In the late 16th century, in its heyday, during the Livonian war, the Polish army under the leadership of their king Stefan Batory won the fortress, defeated her, and during his retreat completely destroyed the city. Since then, unfortunately, he was never restored. The remaining settlements as a result of subsequent raids eventually fell into ruin, as his defense without the fortress and the soldiers was already considerably weakened.
Today the mound is a large hill and the remains of the fortress. On top of it with the South-Western side is high and steep shaft. Before the hill was surrounded by a high wooden wall. In the corners stood a tower. In the fortress were two pairs of gates to which the sides approached the road. Even today you can see their footprints that have been preserved, several centuries later. In the fortress was occupied by warehouses with weapons and ammunition, and food. Still inside were the so-called siege of the crate that served as a refuge of a temporary nature for local residents when the city was a looming danger.
In the fortress previously had two churches – Ilyinsky and Egorievsk. None of them survived. However, today it is partially possible to see the remaining part of the ancient Foundation of Egorievsk of the temple. The building itself Egorievsk temple burned down in 1913. Also preserved is a fence of stone and ancient stone crosses, which belong to the 15-16 century. They were restored in 1984. At the entrance to the Church yard you can see the folded here ancient stone core tools found during excavations.
In 2007 on the site of the old Church, on ancient foundations was re-erected the Church of St. George. For his recovery were taken as a basis the ancient plans of the previous Church, and its historical description.
On the site Voronich owners were buried Trigorskoye next door with Voronich. These tombs were placed along the East side of the altar Egorievsk of the temple. It was the family cemetery of the family Osipov. Praskovia A. Osipova was the owner Trigorskoye. Here is the grave of her husband, I. S. Osipov. Also under the marble cross are A. M. burial Vandammage and A. N. The Wulf.
In the village Voronich preserved remains of the ancient ascension temple. His most famous parishioners were members of the Pushkin family-Hannibals. In the old cemetery, in the Voronich is the grave of Benjamin Petrovich Hannibal, uncle of Alexander Pushkin. Here also lie the remains of the priest Hilarion Rajewski, who served in the Church of the resurrection and knew the poet and his family.
Here on the ruins of the fortress, judging by the autograph of Pushkin himself, was written historical drama "Boris Godunov".
