The Church Of Sveta Petka Photo: Church Of St. Petka

The Church of Sveta Petka is a modern Christian Church built in the city of Ruse, Bulgaria. The construction of the temple was prepared by the architect Lubenham Danilovym in may 1939, and at the end of August of the same year construction began, which lasted about 5 years.

The temple has a size of 30 meters in length and 17 in width. The diameter of the dome is about 13 meters and the height of the bell tower, which is crowned by the cross of almost 23 meters.

In the Church is the iconostasis handmade wizard of Georgi GENOV, Bakcell and its icons were created by artist George Rousse Karaksevs. Other icons of the temple were painted by artists Todor Yankov and Nikola Pendicular.

It is known that the total amount spent on construction, amounted to more than two million leva. April 30, 1944, the Church was consecrated by Metropolitan Dorostolon and Michael Cherven.

Later on the temple walls appeared beautiful murals created by artists Nicola Kojouharova, Tsanko Vasilev and Peter Mikhailov. 30 June 1965 murals were consecrated Metropolitan Dorostolon and Cherven Sofroniy.

The architectural design of this temple was the first (and I must say successful) attempt to restore the appearance of the famous Round Church in Veliki Preslav, built by Tsar Simeon I.
