The monastery and Church of the Holy cross – a complex of buildings in the centre of rzeszów. Currently in the former convent housing local history Museum and school. The Church Of St. Cross is in effect and has the second name "the Church of the student" - due to the proximity of educational institutions.

The Church was built in 1649 by John Mason Kingaroy and architect John Falcone in the late Renaissance style. The facade in the late Baroque style was completed with Jerzy Sebastian Lubomirski in 1707. The façade was made by Tilmann Gameren and made significant changes in the way of the Church. The school, built at the monastery, quickly gained a reputation as a strong educational institution among the local nobility. In addition to the elementary school and middle school, there was a Seminary for young religious teachers and professional musicians. Originally, the school was open to all children, but because published Manifesto Jerzy Lubomirski, was available only to the nobility.

In 1772 as a result of the partition of Polish lands, Rzeszow became part of the Habsburg Empire. These changes led to a series of unpleasant reforms and tumors, which in 1786 the monastery was dissolved, the school continued to work. In 1834-1835, the school was rebuilt in 1872, two wings were added. The training program was added to the German language.

In the late 19th century the Church was reconstructed under the leadership of father Stanislaus Hrunicheva, which later became the Parish pastor.

After Poland regained independence in 1918 due to the patrons has been renovated, updated interiors, bought the body.

During the Second world war in the building of the Church was occupied by German troops. The bombings of the Church was partially destroyed, was particularly hard hit South tower and roof. Reconstruction was carried out in 50-ies. After the war he resumed work after the school was opened the Museum.
