On 2 October 1896 at the intersection of St. Nicholas (now Radishcheva street) and a Large Sergius (now Chernyshevsky street) opened the doors of the new building midwifery school. Prior to that it was located in the house of his Chirichigno on the street. The building was constructed specifically for medical assistant schools under the project of architect A. M. Salko and is considered the oldest medical institution of the Saratov region. In school the Anna Chirichigno facade were made of wrought iron balcony and staircase inside the building.

In the eighteenth century, few could boast of qualified specialists in the field of obstetrics, in Russia this profession replaced of midwife ("berehynia"). The situation started changing in the late nineteenth century after the opening of the midwifery schools and maternity homes. Saratov medical school was one of the first.

In 1909 the school building was the base of the Saratov State University consisting of only one medical faculty and was called then the "Emperor Nicholas University" that has existed in the medical building until 1913 (the year of the opening of the building SSU). The Director of the entire school building was the first health officer of Russia I. I. Molleson.

Since the Foundation of the building was renamed six times in connection with changes in the pattern of training, but traditionally remained faithful feldsher-midwifery.

Now the building of the Saratov regional basic medical College (abbreviated ABMC) after a hundred years remained intact, as in the architecture and purpose of the institution.
