The Saratov circus - this is the first permanent circus in Russia. It was founded in 1876, artists and entrepreneurs Nikitin brothers. And although history tells us that shortly before Nikitin built a circus in Penza, it is considered that Saratov was the first. Saratov became the founder of Russian circus through the activities of three of the Nikitin brothers: Dmitri, Akim and Peter. In 1876 they built a wooden circular building resembling a tent, with a sign "the First Russian circus of the Nikitin brothers". In 1921, Saratov, like all the Volga region, swept the hunger. Artists and circus animals died of starvation and cholera, but did not cease to give performances. Through all the hardships and tribulations of a wooden building is quite dilapidated. In 1931 by the B. S. Vilensky (designer pavilions ENEA and several metro stations in Moscow) erected a new stone building of the circus. From 1959 to 1963 circus reconstructed, increased space, changed the facade. But only in 1998, after a major overhaul in the 125-th anniversary of the Saratov circus building was given the name "the Saratov circus. the Nikitin brothers".
