Castle Commeragh situated in the village of Seeboden in Austria's Carinthia province. The castle was first mentioned in 1187.

In feudal times, the castle served as the residence of viscounts from Sommeregger. It is known that on 29 may 1275, in the castle held a big celebration on the occasion of the marriage of count albert and Countess Euphemia of Ortenburg-Herdeg. With 1344, the owners of the castle were awarded them the title of burggraff that gave them the right to collect tribute from the peasants living on the lands of the castle.

The family of Ortenburg ceased to exist in 1418, after which the castle and the surrounding territory inherited influential Slovenian family Celje, who received his surname the name of their previous castle. Rod Zell participated in many wars, speaking on the side of the Habsburgs, causing the homes to new lands and awards and has strengthened its position in high society. Gradually Zell intermarried with several ruling houses of Europe, having a great influence.

In 1628 the castle came into the possession of the Italian Hans Wittmann, however, after 23 years Sommerich has found a new owner. They became the count of Lodron. Rod count lived in the castle about 300 years. Since 1932 the castle was left without constant supervision, it started to collapse. Several decades later the castle was bought by a wealthy family, which led Commeragh in order to fully restoring its former appearance. After the restoration the castle was again sold. The new owners opened a Museum of torture in 1997 and a restaurant for tourists. Every year in late summer at the castle jousting tournaments and performances.

During its long history, the castle passed from the hands of one owner to another. Currently he is back on the market for 4 million euros.
