The Church Of St. Leonard designed in the Gothic revival style. It was inaugurated in 1887, after two years of construction as the Evangelical Church. The architect was Ferdinand Wachter. Today the Church is privately owned and is the cultural center. It is located to the West of the railway station and is situated at Leonhardstrasse.
From 1887 the Church has served the residents of Western suburbs of the city of St. Gallen, until the commune Gaiserwald not started using it as a premise for their collections. In 1931 the Church was renovated inside. 1 January 1995 the Church was closed, the services did not take place. After two years, a project was launched the opening of the Church. Leonard. Now it passed the world of worship and even played musicals, despite the fact that the building was considered old, and permission for the use of the building was granted only for a year. At that time it was not known what resources will be maintained and restored the building. But in the autumn of 2004 the building was for sale, and even organized the auction.
In the winter of 2007 the building was on fire, completely destroying the roof of the building. During the investigation it was found that the cause of the fire was the fault of the temporary wiring for the connection of Christmas illumination in the room. But, on versions of the investigation, it is not the only possible cause. Several years the building was not repaired, and in the spring of 2010 it was decided again to restore the roof, so the building is not destroyed even on the inside.
