Secrets of the underwater world has always attracted people to him. There is nothing strange: more than seventy percent of our planet is covered by water and more than half of all vertebrate animals living in water. To observe how they behave in their native environment – what could be more fun?! It is not surprising therefore that more and more often on all continents and in various countries began to open all new aquariums (fish tanks) - a kind of underwater museums where the exhibits are living inhabitants of rivers, ponds, lakes, seas and oceans.
The aquarium of Saint-Petersburg is a unique project for Russia, implemented by Finnish architect Hannah Laitila, one of the components of the trade and entertainment complex "planet Neptune". The aquarium was opened on 27 April 2006. Since then, his visitors were over two million people, as of Petersburgers and city visitors who come from different cities of Russia and abroad.
Exposition of the Aquarium consists of seven sections, formed depending on the habitat area for the exhibits: "North-West Russia", "Rocky shore", "Coral reef", "rainforest", "Home aquarium", "Amazon", "tidal influence". Currently it contains about five thousand specimens of fish and aquatic invertebrates belonging to 150 different species.
The total area of the Aquarium, placed in three levels, is more than five thousand square meters. There are 32 aquariums, more than half a million liters of water. The smallest holds 300 liters. To fill the same need a large aquarium 750 thousand liters of water. And undoubtedly he is the most interesting object underwater Museum, because through it laid a 35-metre transparent tunnel through which visitors can travel on a moving walkway. The tunnel walls are made of acrylic glass with a thickness of 8 inches, so that you can not be afraid of the shark's jaws, which may be very close to you.
The highlight of visiting the aquarium be held here almost daily unforgettable show with sharks and seals.
When the Aquarium is organized by the training center, one of the main areas of work is environmental education of the younger generation.
The Oceanarium is the place where you can spend time as a family. Here you can go again and again and always find something new, as the exposition is constantly updated and changing.
