Trinity Cathedral is the Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in St. Petersburg. In 1776, Catherine II approved the project of the temple designed by the architect I. E. Starov, and appointed him as the head of construction. The ceremonial laying of the Cathedral was made in 1778 Metropolitan Gavriil (Petrov). Today the Church is in excellent condition, protected by the state.

Trinity Cathedral is a domed temple with 2 umya bunk towers bell towers. The architectural style of early classicism. Interior of the Cathedral space is cruciform in plan. The massive piers supporting the arches, divide it into 3 naves. The Cathedral is crowned by a dome on a high drum. The overall composition is completed by 2 of the monumental bell tower. They rise on the sides of balconies Central entrance, which is decorated with a portico of 6 columns of the Roman Doric order. The facades are covered with shallow panels and pilasters.

On the North and South entrances are bas-relief panels depicting events from the old and New Testaments. The Sculptor Was F. I. Shubin. Over the main entrance – "the Sacrifice of king Solomon in the day of the consecration of the temple of Jerusalem", below you can see a group of sculptures depicting angels with the order token of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky.

Inside, the building combines two forms: Basilica and cross-dome. The plan is a Latin cross. Attached Corinthian columns with gilded capitals adorn the nave. In the drum supporting the dome is 16 Windows, through which the main lighting of the temple.

The iconostasis is a semicircular niche with the Royal doors in the depths. Made of Italian white marble A. Pinkette. Parts made from bronze is made of p. P. aji, the image in the king's gate, written by I. A. Akimov, and J. Mettenleiter. In the remaining images of the iconostasis was attended G. I. Ugryumov. The original painting of the interior was executed by F. D. Danilov. But soon she was partially lost because of the long absence of heating in the Cathedral, and therefore in 1806, the painting was replaced by another. It was created by A. della Giacomo from sketches by G. Quarenghi. In 1862 the vaults of the Cathedral were painted again. Did P. S. Titov, using sketches of F. G. Solntsev. Modeling was carried out by D. Fontana and F. Lamoni, statues of saints and 20 bas-reliefs by the sculptor F. I. Shubin. In the Western zone of the Cathedral was placed a marble bas-relief of Metropolitan Gabriel (now in the Russian Museum).

In the altar, behind the throne was placed the image of the Annunciation of the virgin, executed by R. Mengs. On the East wall is a painting of the Resurrection of Christ, created by p. P. Rubens, over the southern gate of the blessed Savior A. van Dyck. Portrait of Catherine II, D. G. Levitsky, hung over the king's place, opposite was a portrait of Peter the Great. At the tomb was located a silver lectern with Kyoto, where they were placed "colchici" with particles of relics and icons. In 1806 gave the Emperor Alexander I. on the left side of raki – the image of the Vladimir Mother of God, with the right – miraculously Saved a piece of the Robe of the Lord.

In 1862, in the Trinity Cathedral of the Tauride Palace was taken malachite canopy to shroud, which was manufactured in the years 1827-1828 in Paris in the Studio of P. F. Thomire (now in the Hermitage). Great chandelier of silver, weighing about 210 pounds, was donated to Catherine II.
