Globen, also known as arena Eriksson (after its acquisition of telecommunications company Ericsson in 2009), is the national indoor arena of Sweden, located in Stockholm area Johanneshof. Today it is the largest hemispherical building in the world, the construction of which took two and a half years. The arena was built in 1989.

Globen is shaped like a large white ball, whose diameter is 110 meters and the height inside the building is 85 meters. The arena can accommodate up to 16,000 spectators and concerts and 13 850 spectators of hockey. The shape of the building was not chosen by chance: the arena is a Sun in the framework of the project solar system in Sweden. In the implementation of this project were met real proportions as the size of the planets and their distances relative to each other. Thus, the closest planet to the Sun is also located in Stockholm, but far in other cities of the country.

Globen attracts not only those who wished to attend any concert or sporting match, but tourists who want to admire the view of Stockholm from height of bird's flight (130 meters above sea level). In 2010 there was opened a popular attraction Skyview, where one of two glass gondolas, visitors can take a journey through the outer side of the southern part of the building.

Globen is the centre of major events, but quite often became the center of an interesting architectural projects. For example, from may to October 2009 on the roof of the Globen Arena, you could see a small aluminum house (12 sqm). The aim of the project was the illustration of two important symbols for Sweden: high-tech construction (Arena building) and traditional, simple architecture, which embodies a small suburban house.
