Directly to the Royal Botanical garden adjoins the Park "Domain", spread over an area of 34 hectares on the Eastern edge of the Central business district of Sydney. Today it is a popular venue for various concerts and outdoor festivals, or just for a family of townspeople.

In July 1788, six months later, after the flotilla under the command of Arthur Phillip entered Sydney Harbour on the Eastern side of the Bay was founded by a small farm. In the future, by order of Governor Phillip next to the farm was reserved outdoor area for the exclusive use of the Governor, known as "the Possession of Phillip". Despite the fact that in 1792 around ownership was to dig a ditch to mark its boundaries, in subsequent years, to the Park not once attempted. In 1810, which became the new colony's Governor Lachlan Macair has erected around Government Buildings and the Park of the stone wall separating this area from Hyde Park. After a further 7 years old Domain was already fully fenced, and for the regulation of horse-drawn traffic had built several gates. Only in the 1830s, the Park opened to the public, and directly adjacent to the Government Building, the square was occupied by the Gardens of the Government. Almost immediately, the Park began to carry out mass sports activities such as cricket matches, while they continued to herd cattle!

In the 1860s, Domain was open to the public and at night – people were here on a warm summer evening, and the Park became known as "Park, whose gates are never closed". In the future, the Park became the site of a historic performances in 1935 Czech journalist Egon, Kim addressed the crowd of 18 thousand people a speech about the dangers of the Nazi regime of Hitler's Germany.

Today the Domain is still popular with the people of Sydney. On weekends it is a track filled with joggers, and on the lawns there are competitions in soccer and football. An interesting attraction of the Park is the Seat of Mrs. Machir carved from stone for the wife of Governor Lachlan of Maquire. Sitting in it, she could explore the area and the ships sailing in Sydney Harbour. Here, in the Park, is the place where Queen Elizabeth II first set foot on the land of Australia – historical event commemorates commemorative plaque.

On the Eastern side of the Park Domain located Art Gallery of New South Wales, and near to it the pool under the open sky. From the center of the Park offers fantastic views of the Sydney Tower.
