Since the beginning of this century, to be exact - since 2008, in the history of architecture Taganrog began the period of "modern plastics", the characteristic of which is to create sculptural compositions are almost life-size, not set on high pedestals, and at the level of sidewalks, walking distance for spectators. Among them, basically, Chekhov's characters: "romance with a double bass", "the Cherry orchard", "Artem", "Thick and thin", "Egyptian pyramid".

Sculptural composition "Egyptian pyramid" was designed based on the story by A. P. Chekhov's "Kashtanka" and mounted on a small round platform at the entrance to the Park. A. M. Gorky. Covered with color tiles Playground symbolizes the circus arena, and the main characters faces – bronze literary characters of Chekhov's short story: pig Sow Ivanovna, goose, Ivan Ivanovich, the cat Theodore T. and dog Kashtanka. They are shown during a circus performance and perform circus – "Egyptian pyramid". On the back of the pig is Gus, and on his back on hind legs is a cat. Kashtanka in the coat is a little off. Composition made by the method of bronze casting in the form on Rostov sculptor Dmitry Ladygina. For its production used 150 pounds of wax, nearly a ton of sand and a ton of artistic bronze. After casting of the sculpture was subjected to coining, grinding and polishing, artificial aging. In those days the cost of preparing the composition was considerable – more than a million rubles!
