Residence Takayama-jinya interesting as the former Zastava, which was created by the government in order to bring the Hida province under the control of the government of the bakufu (Shogunate) in the Edo period. The reason for this attention of the Shogunate were large supplies of timber in the province. The Outpost was built near the town, which now is called Hachiken-machi. It is located in the old part of town near the bridge Nakabase.
The building originally belonged to the Prince of Kanamori, who governed the possession of Hida Takayama Han and used this space as his Villa. After 1629, the military government bakufu took direct control over Hidoi, the building was restored and used as office Deputy local Manager. After 1777, the building housed by the local authority.
The main building of the residence was rebuilt in 1816, and in this form it can be seen today. Inside the building, built in the traditional style, you can see the rooms that were used for housing, hotel rooms, office space, meeting rooms and other events, there is also a room in which was conducted the interrogations.
The residence can be seen at home stores that were originally built near the Takayama castle, and in 1695 were moved to their present location. The roofs of these buildings are covered with wooden shingles and even though the material used is the same, methods of installation vary. It was believed that in the Hida region, where a lot of snow in winter, use a clay tile is less profitable than wood. Besides, Hide in a wooden building materials were more accessible.
Next to the main building in the 1600's was built a rice warehouse, known as the largest in Japan. Now it is a Museum, which presents things feudal lords with the Hida, documents, old maps of the province of Hida and historical plans for the city.
After the Meiji reformation, the building Takayama-jinya was used as the administration office of the Prefecture. In 1929 it was recognized as a historical monument, but until 1969 continued to serve as administrative space. Currently Takayama-jinya fully restored to its original appearance and is protected as an object of historical value.
