On the North East coast of Kefalonia, within 20 km from the city lies the small resort town Themselves. It is located on the picturesque Bay of the same name at the foot of the beautiful mountains overlooking the legendary island of Ithaca.

The modern town of Sami was built next to the ruins of the old city, which was one of the four main settlements of ancient Kefalonia.
