Almost to the Polish border is a small town called Kraliky. Now there are about 4, 5 thousand people, but there were times when this town was crowded, rich and prosperous. It was founded in the late thirteenth century, like other villages in the district. Then there was an active development of new land, the settlers were ready to work, obustraivatj in a new place.
About three centuries of Kraliky had not heard anything. People lived here, as elsewhere, surviving on odd jobs. Only in the XVI century fortune smiled upon this city: it was bought by Zdenek of Wallenstein, who immediately knocked to his property, the right to hold the auction, to make beer, to sell certain types of goods. Immediately began to organize a Guild of people of different professions. On the streets Krolikov began to appear in the workshops of the artisans, merchants opened their galleries here, implementing a high quality product. Králiky gradually became one of the most important cities in the Pardubice region. It learned of the Emperor himself, who several times came here to assess the situation of the city and learn about its readiness for war with Prussia.
The position of the edge of the city obliged the local authorities to protect the population in case of attack by the enemy. Before the Second world war there was established a system of FORTS, which survived until our days. Now in its buildings opened military Museum. The exposition of another Museum – urban – talks about the customs and traditions of Kralicky region.
