The Arctic Cathedral Photo: the Arctic Cathedral

The Arctic Cathedral is a Lutheran Church Tromsdalen parish, containing 720 parishioners, built and consecrated in 1965. It is the unique cultural heritage of Norway, in its form resembles an iceberg floating in the polar night under the shimmering Northern lights.

Cathedral stained glass Windows, the main theme of which is “Coming of Christ”, the biggest in Europe. In the architecture used everywhere the symbolic number “3” as on an altar painting by artist Victor Sparre - three rays of light emanating from the hand of God and focused on Christ and two apostles. Oak interior, large chandeliers, the chair can be easily combined with heavy simplicity of design.

In 2005 was built jregistry organ in the French romantic style, consisting of 2940 pipes. It replaced an old and used for worship and concerts of organ music.

When visiting the Cathedral you can buy Souvenirs, stamps, postcards, and various publications devoted to the Arctic temple. When there is a Church service, entrance for tourists is closed.
