Opposite the Kremlin, on the corner of Voznesensky street and Uspenskaya square, Uglich is a beautiful stone house merchants Evreinov. Its appearance is similar with luxury Palace. Among all of Uglich commercial and public buildings this house has been and continues to be the most elegant and impressive. Probably not by chance that it was built not rich, but successful local merchants Nikolay Zhukov and Konstantin Nikolayevich Evreinov – known patriots and major public figures of the city of Uglich. Who does not like them to think about the beauty and honor of their city and to profit from the creation, the memory of which survives to the present time. As merchants they built this house, opened a shopping complex, and as patriots of the city, created a newspaper, library, Museum, musical drama society and much more, took care of the ancient monuments. Therefore, it is true that the heritage of these people is still alive and pleasing to the eye.

The building has two floors, its construction was started in 1892 and completed, likely by the early twentieth century. Upper floor and the mezzanine had the furnished room (a kind of hotel rooms), and the entire lower floor was given over to shops, among them colonial and confectionery Evreinov, Association of Trekhgorny brewery and Manufacturing company "singer" with the famous production of sewing machines. In addition, since 1911 it was a film with the power plant – one of the first in Uglich. Widely known use established merchants hall theatre, located on the top floor.

The walls are decorated with pilasters, ceilings – luxurious stucco ceiling, under eaves is a small balcony for musicians. Survived and arch that separated the hall from the stage and tiled stoves. In this room a band was playing folk instruments, the performances were played Uglich theatrical society, masquerade and balls.

The building façade will attract attention. They are typical for large public and commercial buildings of the time. The most noticeable place is the angle between the street and the square. It is accented with a balcony, the main entrance to the store and dome. From the ascension of the street the house has an attached two-storey structure, built too Evreinov. But it was not finished – the South-Western part is not completed, the walls are not plastered and decorated with stucco.

In modern times the house of merchants Evreinov, survived a lot of UPS and downs, carefully restored. It consists of the Duma and the Administration of Uglich municipal district. In 2007 there was opened a ballroom.
