Scots monastery – Catholic monastery, located in Vienna, the square of Freyung. The monastery was founded in 1155, when Henry II moved the monks from "Scottish" monastery in Regensburg. Actually, the Scottish monasteries are actually Irish. Just Irish monks had been a missionary in Europe, and Ireland in the medieval language was called the "Great Scotland".

In 1160 the Scots ' Church was built in Romanesque style in Vienna, where he was buried Henry III. In addition to the Church, the monks created a shelter for pilgrims and crusaders who went through a vein in Jerusalem. The Church was burned during the fire in 1276. In 1418, the Duke albert seized the monastery and settled in the Church of the Benedictines. Hence the present name of the monastery.

In 1638, in the Church again had a fire due to a lightning strike. After the fire it was decided to restore the Church, participated in the project by the architects Andrea d Allio and S. Carlone. During this process, the length of the Church was somewhat reduced with the result that the tower no longer stands directly next to the Basilica. A new altar was engaged Joachim von Sandrat.
