Vileika history Museum is relatively young. It was founded on 30 July 1982. Originally the Museum was given the name "Vileika historical Museum". The first Museum exhibition was opened on 7 may 1985.
Despite its youth, the Museum has amassed a large collection of very rare and unusual items. We have here a collection of artefacts from archaeological excavations in the burial mounds: ancient flint knives, stone age, female Slavic temporal rings. Currently, the Museum collection includes more than 25 thousand exhibits.
The Museum exposition reflects periods of the city's history from ancient times to the mid twentieth century and is divided into sections: "Time", "Sources", "Home", "School", "Suffering", "Vileyka".
From 1 January 2005 the Museum's name was changed. Now it is called Vileika Museum. The Museum contains a large ethnographic collection, gathered in the section called "Vileyka Shed. This area of the traditional Belarusian hut, furnished with traditional handmade embroidered tablecloths and towels, pottery, baskets and other utensils.
The Museum hosts festivals of folk art, on which locals and tourists can learn about the crafts, national costumes, musical instruments, songs, dances. In recent times they began to organize traditional Slavic Belarusian wedding. Such weddings are very popular, because it is known historians all national traditions and customs, including those relating to the wedding ceremony.
Since 2011, the Museum opened a gift shop where you can buy Handicrafts: ceramics, towels, shirts, products of straw, willow, beads and other nice tourist Souvenirs.
