The Museum of sacred art is located in the building Viseu Cathedral, a beautiful Romanesque building. The Museum's collection is on several floors, but most exposures are concentrated in the Chapter House, whose walls are decorated with paintings from tile Azulejos in the style of the XVIII century, depicting scenes of battles and hunting scenes from life.

Among the artifacts in the House of the Chapter, presented two Golden coffer from Limoges XVIII century, made of ivory the monstrance end of the XV century, the gospel of the XII century, two chalices of gold and silver of the XVII century, and illuminated manuscript on parchment of the XIII-XIV century. Individual attention, sculptural works, especially the sculpture of Saint Isabel of the XVI century and the image of the Archangel Raphael and Tobias eighteenth century the hands of the famous masters of the Machado de Castro. All the items in the Museum collection are arranged in chronological order, from the XIII to the XVIII century.

In addition, visitors can see the gold jewelry and religious items used in worship, and to consider the vestments of the priests, silk coverlets embroidered with silver, and articles embroidered with gold thread. The exhibits of the Museum are of great historical value, among them the Byzantine pectoral cross and the processional cross of silver carved 1754. Among other interesting objects of the Museum is the wooden Romanesque period with the drawings, which depict scenes from poems of knightly exploits.
