The Cathedral of the Intercession of the blessed virgin Mary is one of the architectural highlights of the city of Vladivostok. Laying the Foundation of the temple was made in may 1900, the initiator of its construction was made by the priest Alexander Muravyev. The Cathedral was the second largest parish Church in Vladivostok. The first was the assumption Cathedral, ruthlessly demolished, and the Holy virgin protection Church under the Soviet regime. On holidays, the Church was visited by thousands of Orthodox. The Church had three entrances, lots of Windows and a large Central dome, thus the temple got a lot of light.
The consecration of the Church took place in September, 1902, at About the same time, there was a parochial school. In 1923, the cemetery was closed, which was near the temple, and the building was soon transferred to the community of the Renovationists. Further, the temple was used as a clubhouse. In 1935 the Church was blown up, and in place of the intercession of the cemetery decided to build a city Park of culture and rest. The bricks from the temple were used in the construction of the pedagogical Institute.
In 2004, Archbishop Vladivostok and seaside Veniamin during the prayer service together with the city clergy has consecrated the beginning of the construction of the temple. The Archbishop personally laid the Foundation stone of the temple and the relics of the Hieromartyr Constantine Bogorodskoye. Since that time there has been a revival of the Church of the Intercession on its former place.
The author of this project was the team of architects of CNIIMF under the leadership of Alexander Kotlyarov. Externally the temple is built in the old Russian style and very similar to its five-headed predecessor. The total area of the temple reaches 600 meters, and the height together with the cross - 40 m.
In 2007, on the day of Easter in the Cathedral of the Intercession of the blessed virgin Mary held its first service.
