One of the most popular and interesting museums of the Volgograd region is Kamyshin historical Museum, founded in 1961. The building of the Museum is a special attraction and unique architectural object. This "architectural gem of the Volga region" was built for the County Council in 1901 in explanation of the Moscow architecture in the style of Russian Baroque. In our days, former provincial house is an architectural monument of Federal value.

Museum exhibit is presented in fourteen rooms and is divided into sections: Geography and Geology of the region, Fauna, Archaeology, History of the exploration of the region, the Social and political life of the County, Kamyshin district after the revolution and during the great Patriotic war. In our days, Kamyshin in the funds of the Museum there are over fifty thousand items. The most valuable collection of archaeological, paleontological, ethnographic, as well as items of antique furniture, clocks, glassware, rare books and numismatic collection. Impressive collection of scientific literature with the book Fund of the library contains over sixteen thousand volumes.

Besides the permanent exhibition in the Museum you can see temporary exhibitions of painting: Polenov paintings, Roerich, Shishkin and other famous artists. Every year on 13 August (birthday of the Museum) in Kamyshin historical Museum held an open day.
