Museum of the Polish army Museum in Warsaw dedicated to the military history of Poland. Is the second largest Museum in the country after the National Museum.

The Museum was founded in 1920 by the decree of the Supreme Commander józef piłsudski. Director was appointed Bronislaw Gembarowski – eminent military historian and Museum expert.

In 1939 the Museum's collection already consisted of more than 60 thousand exhibits, which during the German occupation were taken to Germany. In 1946, the Museum returned only 40 thousand exhibits, 20 thousand were never found.

Permanent exhibition of the Museum shows the history of the Polish army, including a collection of weapons from the middle ages to the 18th century, works of art, books, documents and precious photos. In the Museum you can see the guns, planes and armored vehicles of the First and Second world wars, are exhibited in the Museum courtyard. Of special interest are: genuine saddle of Napoleon I, Dating back to Egyptian campaign, a collection of personal belongings of Tadeusz Kosciuszko, and armor Polish kings, the armor of the 17th century by Jan Kazimir, sword Stanislaw August Poniatowski, the Mace of the 17th century Hetman Stanisław Yablonovsky.

In 2014, the Museum will have to move to Warsaw citadel – Russian fortress built in the 19th century. Architectural design competition for the new Museum was won by WXCA.
