Zoo Givskud located at the distance of twenty miles to the North-West of Vejle in Denmark and combines and Zoological Safari Park. The Park was opened in 1969 and was called Løveparken, which meant "Lion Park", because the lions were the only animals represented there at that time. In 1970, the Park added elephants, and today you can see over 700 animals representing more than 70 species. Zoo Givskud became home to several animals that are in their own popular and well-known. For example, among them was a Rhino, which turned out to be extremely aggressive with other rhinos and people and even sought to destroy the fence of the enclosure. Eventually he was transferred to the reservation Ongava in Namibia, despite the fact that he was born in captivity and hand-reared by zoo workers. He lived on the reservation 6 years, and then died in a struggle for territory with another male Rhino. In the zoo there is another animal known to many is the gorilla Samson. It even showed several times on Danish TV.
Zoo Givskud popular for its large aviary, where zoo visitors can drive on their own machines. The most popular at the zoo: Asian elephants, white rhinos, gorillas, chimpanzees, and, of course, lions. The lion's flock at the zoo in Givskud – the largest in all of Europe.
