Bacarisse the monastery of the Holy Saviour is located just above the town of Yambol, on the Northern slope of one of the peaks of hilly area called Bakajika. It was erected in the middle ages and soon became a centre of Hesychasm in Bulgaria.

After the defeat of the country in the fight against the Ottoman invaders, the monastery was destroyed. There is evidence that it was rebuilt in the early nineteenth century, however, after the April uprising, the monastery was burned.

The current complex was built after the Russo-Turkish war, in 1879. The initiator of the construction was made by General Mikhail skoblev and his, who offered to local residents in honor of the victory over the Turks to establish an Orthodox Church on the site of the once destroyed.

First erected the building became a chapel. Before leaving the city by Russian troops under General donated for the new Church, the gospel and the cross with engraving. The construction was completed by the citizens of Yambol with financial support from Bulgaria and Russia.
