Chapel Of Our Lady Of Kazan Photo: Chapel Of Our Lady Of Kazan

In Yaroslavl there is a beautiful chapel, which was consecrated in honor of our lady of Kazan. The chapel is a high building shaped like a rocket, equipped with a stained glass partition. With regard to the location of the chapel, it is located on the coastal part of the Kotorosl river – right just before the Holy doors at the Holy Transfiguration monastery in the Central part of Yaroslavl. The opening of the monument was accompanied by a solemn ceremony, which took place in the summer of 1997, which coincided with the date of the 385-th anniversary of the release of the militia in Moscow. For the position of project architect was appointed G. L. Daynow.

We know from history that in 1612 in Nizhny Novgorod gathered a huge militia, which was intended to liberate Moscow from foreign invaders. Having Nizhny Novgorod, the militia went further into the upper reaches of the Volga river and slowed down in Yaroslavl – it is here that it gained so much power that the city began to serve as the capital of the Russian state. It is important to note that shelter the people's militia was in the building of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky monastery.

A commemorative monument in the chapel of our lady of Kazan was built to commemorate the release of the monastery walls of the militia of Minin and Pozharsky. From the building of the monastery of the militia passed through the Holy gates that belonged to the July 1612, after which it moved towards Moscow.

On the building of the chapel there are images of many saints. Inside the chapel, this big slab of the written word From the grateful descendants of the people's militia 1612".

The building has a rather unusual shape, which is the result of combining the "rocket" and a steepled Church. In the Central part of the slender building has a bell. Especially notable is located inside the chapel of the Kazan icon of the mother of God, made in the form of extraordinarily beautiful stained glass; it is also in the Central part of the room. From the past we know that this Saint was the patron of the Russian army.

The chapel is perfectly visible even from afar.

According to the will and disposal of the Mint, acting with state support, the chapel of our lady of Kazan became one of the most famous and revered temples across Russia, because its image is located on the banknote 1000 rubles of 1997.
