In the architectural design of the Cathedral one can see elements of the so-called order system and pieces of decoration, indicating that the Cathedral was influenced by inherent Italian Renaissance architecture; to a greater extent for the Cathedral characteristic rigor and conciseness, which are reflected in the Russian architecture of the 16th century.

During the whole period of existence of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral he not once been a radical transformation, because of what its appearance was literally transformed beyond recognition.
