The highest peak of Durmitor mountain is Bobotov Kuk, which, moreover, is also the highest point in Montenegro. This peak rises on a hillock in 2522 meters. If the weather is clear and quiet, with a view almost to the opposite end of the country, for example, the Serbian Kopaonik mountain or mount Lovcen.
The first ascent of this peak was made and recorded in 1883. To date, this climb is not for professional climbers of any complexity, also enjoys great popularity among tourists. There are two routes to climb this peak: the first takes about five and a half hours and passes through the primeval forest from the edge of Zabljak and to the Black lake, and the second approximately 2 hours and begins at the pass "Saddle" at the height of 1960 m.
The second way is easier, why use it and selects the most tourists. To reach the pass by bike or car from Zabljak. Those tourists who decide to go on a long route, have to leave the hotel for climbing not later than 6 o'clock in the morning.
The best time to climb is July-September. In June, at many sites there is snow, and in October the weather changes dramatically, can be unpredictable and lasts for quite cold.
It is important to have a small set of equipment, where there should be water, some food, trekking shoes, waterproof jacket, sunscreen and a hat. One way route length is about 9 km, with elevation difference equal to about 1, 2 km.
Many tourists say that all the difficulties associated with the rise of Bobotov Kuk quickly offset the panorama of the mountain scenery that can be seen from the top. From here you can see the ridge of Durmitor, Prokletije massif, Zabljak, the Tara canyon, Krcko the lake.
At the foot of the mountain there is a small restaurant that welcomes tourists on the way back, offering to eat, relax and share experiences.
