The Zamoyski Palace – the former residence of the Zamoyski family, located in the Western part of the Old town in samosa. The Palace was built for the city's founder, Jan Zamoyski, this was their first object, erected in the city after its creation. Over the years the Palace has undergone many renovations, and the building we can see today – not the most impressive architecturally variant of the pre-existing.
The construction of the residence began in 1579 by the Italian architect Bernardo Morando. The work was completed in 1586. The Palace is a rectangular two-storey building with a length of about 60 meters, having a tower with a terrace and a double Grand staircase.
In 1658, the Palace burnt down in a devastating fire, but two years later, reconstruction began in the then fashionable Baroque style.
The following changes were requested by Anthony Thomas ZAMOJSKI in 1747. The Palace was connected to the rear outbuildings, the tower it was decided to make below. From the front facade was built publishing house, there was a high metal gate, which formed a Grand courtyard.
In 1803, the Polish count Stanislaw Kostka Zamoyski was ordered to rebuild the Palace in the classical style. Soon after the reconstruction of the yard was sold to the state and converted into a military hospital, after which quickly lost its historic appearance. After Poland regained independence in 1918, the Palace was given to the establishment of the city court. During the Second world war the Palace was badly damaged, but intact was the right wing that housed a small publishing house.
In front of the Palace stands a monument to the city's founder, Jan Zamoyski, the sculptor Marjan End.
