The monument to the conqueror of the city Alanya Sultan the Aladdin Keykubat I is located in the Western part of the city and is the first landmark that welcomes tourists arriving from the airport.

Aladdin was the Sultan of the Seljuk dynasty, who ruled Kerala in the 13th century (1219-1236). He struggled for power with his older brother Keykavus I, who became Sultan in 1211, but was defeated and imprisoned in the castle of Guzer-Peart, near Malatya. From the first years of his reign Sultan Aladdin Keykubat I proved himself as a successful military leader and visionary ruler. In 1221 Sultan recaptured in the Mediterranean coast, the fortress of Kalhoras belonging to the Armenian Cilician Kingdom. After five years of fighting the Seljuk Sultan Aladdin Keykubat I conquered Alanya in 1221 and ordered to build a monument which would become the symbol of the domination of the Turks on the high seas, and also protects the Bay of the city. Thus Keykubat left in the city's history as a significant milestone, completing the construction of Alanya castle and erecting a powerful and colorful a fortress built on a high hill, called Kizil Kule (Red Tower) in 1224.
