In the North side of the city of Alatyr, Chuvash Republic, is Holy Trinity monastery with the highest bell tower in Russia. Founded a men's monastery was in 1584, and from 1615 by 1763 was assigned to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. The main attraction of Alatyr Holy Trinity monastery is a gate tower, built in the traditional temple style 16th-17th centuries and with height up to the base of the cross 81, 6 meters. The bell tower was erected within a few years, architects V. A. Verdini, V. A. Culicover and designer V. K. Potasisum. He consecrated the newly built bell tower with the temple of the monk Vassian (upstairs) in 2009 and in October of the same year the bell tower was officially recognized as the highest in Russia.

The bell tower with a hipped dome is decorated with brick pink color, decorated with elements of white marble. Forming an architectural complex with the Holy Trinity Cathedral, in the construction of the bell tower were built in a Byzantine style. 14 levels of the bell tower: the Church (the monastery), gallery, library, Museum, technical, office and storage space. One level (floor) is adapted to the unique mechanism of the clock, and in the upper part of the tent (to amplify sound) are the grate. The belfry is located on a 26-meter height and occupies three levels of the bell tower. The weight of the largest bell (they are only 14 pieces) - more than eighteen tons. The peculiarity of the bell tower is the Elevator (up to the fifth floor) and mechanical chimes with the dial on four sides, with a diameter of over three meters (each).

Alatyr Holy Trinity monastery, previously known because of the activities of the most revered people of schema-monk Vassian, these days takes a large number of pilgrims.
