Photo: a Column of Emperor Julian
One of the most famous Roman monuments in Turkey is the Column of Julian the Apostate. Column of Julian is located at the edge of the pool, between the Finance Department and the mayor's office of Ankara, in the South from the ruins of the temple of Augustus. It does not contain labels. Column height is 15 meters. It was built in honor of Emperor Julian in 362 year. In people, this column is called the minaret of Belkis.
Column of Julian is built in the Corinthian style with lots of hoops. At all times, this historic monument has had a strong impression on tourists in the city. Interesting is the fact that the top of the column platted a nest of storks.
