The mosque, Ahi Elvan was built in the vicinity of Ankara castle (Citadel). It's strict building stands in the center of the city for centuries.

Little mosque Ahi-Elvan was built in 1382. It was built in the spirit of the time and looks like most of Seljuk mosques. She has another name - "Forest mosque". In 1413 there was restoration of the mosque by the order of Mehmed çelebi, and she found a look that we can see now.

Outside Ahi Elvan has a very simple form: rough walls of unbaked mud brick. Tile roof covered in Turkish style. The walls have Windows, arranged in two rows of six each, and above the altar in two rows of four. The entrance gate of the mosque is lined with stones and various decorations. The mosque has a balcony and a minaret, located in the Northwest corner.

Ahi Elvan has wooden ceilings and is the most beautiful example of the woodwork. Ceiling support twelve pillars, also made from wood used in the construction of the Byzantine and Roman buildings. The ceiling is decorated with motifs of pentagons is an elegant example of the style of Seljuk.
