The magnificent Temple of Augustus is a masterpiece of ancient architecture. It is a unique monument, erected during the reign of the Roman Emperor Augustus in the year 362 B. C., immediately after Julian visited Ankara. It is located near Ulus square. Until today the remains of this temple were last built by the son of the last Galatian ruler of Amyntas king Philomena as a sign of devotion to the Emperor Augustus.

Today it houses a small exhibition of antique sculptures of stone and bronze.

Its form, the structure is a typical structure of a Roman temple oblong. During the stay in these lands of the Byzantines were here made some extension as well as the Windows are open. The plan of the Temple of Augustus is defined by four walls with four columns on the sides. Behind the columns are designated areas used for prayer.
