The Museum of the Camargue is located not far from Arles, on a former farm Mas-du-Pont-de-Rusty. Since the Museum's begin the journey through the land in the Delta of the Rhone river, which created the regional natural Park of the Camargue. Manages the Museum, the Park authority.

This area was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO, in the 70-ies of the last century, there was established a nature Park for the conservation of wetlands in the Delta of the Rhone and the surrounding Mediterranean coast. Its area is approximately 930 square kilometers. Originally, this area looked like swamps, interspersed with small Islands of sand and lagoons with sea water. In the nineteenth century, the majority of these lands are subjected to dehumidification and adapted for rice cultivation. More to improve these lands did not try – probably because of the constantly blowing strong winds and high soil salinity, which is not allowed to engage in construction or agriculture.
But the Camargue is the only one in Europe where pink flamingos nest. In addition, in the Camargue a rest stop on their migratory birds, 270 species. The locals grow here, the black bulls that are sold to participate in the bullfights in France and Spain.
