Astrakhan state music theatre is one of the sights of the city, which history dates back to the late nineteenth century. The initiator of construction of the first theatre in Astrakhan was the businessman Konstantin Polakovic - that he ordered to build a summer theatre in a large Park laid out by his order. Made by architect A. S. malachovsky, to translate into reality the ambitious project took Vyatka best masters.

In 1899 took place the ceremonial opening of the theatre, which at one time was considered one of the best wooden theatres of the Volga region. On the stage were famous artists – Chaliapin, Nezhdanova, Savin and many others. In 1976, the wooden building of the theatre was completely destroyed.

Ten years later, in its place was built a Summer touring theatre. At the same time, on the basis of the Conservatory and the Philharmonic began operating the creative team of "Musical theatre", which in 1995 became the basis for the creation of Astrakhan state music theatre. During the entire period of its existence the theatre has staged more than forty performances of various musical genres – musicals, Opera, ballet, children's shows, and much more. 2000-the year was marked by the establishment of the troupe classical ballet under the direction of Larisa Siwicki. Two years later, the theater began a close collaboration with the State Academic Bolshoi theatre of Russia, so now residents and visitors can enjoy operas in the Italian language.
