The ensemble of the market square, built in the style of Louis XIV and Baroque, is included in the list of UNESCO world heritage site.

The Grand place is the most gorgeous and elegant Central square, surrounded by a square of carefully selected architectural masterpieces that belonged to the guilds of merchants and craftsmen: the House painter, the House of tailors, a House of the boatman. The most impressive are the king's House and the Town hall. The town hall was erected in 1402, its high spire decorated with five-meter copper weather vane in the form of the Archangel Michael, and the statues of the facade depict various stories from the life of the city.

In the big House of the king today, houses the Municipal Museum, which tells about the history of Brussels. Despite its name, this building has never been a retreat for a single king. Lace stone architecture of the House of the king appeared on the site of a former Grain house, where in the thirteenth century were baked and sold bread.

Twice a year on the area creates a large rectangular carpet of flowers that decorate the Grand place in three days. Colorful begonias are specially grown under the Gent for the occasion.

Admire this Grand spectacle and beauty of the architectural ensemble, sitting comfortably in one of the cafes on the square. Here you will see the famous tavern “Golden boat”, in which he lived, Victor Hugo, and a restaurant “the Swan House”, the entrance to which is decorated with Swan sculpture. In this restaurant was located pub where Marx and Engels first read “the Communist Manifesto”.
