The house-Museum of A. S. Pushkin – one of the most famous attractions of the city of Chisinau. This unique Museum is located in the building where Alexander Pushkin lived in exile from 1820 to 1823. The opening of the Chisinau Museum was held on 10 February 1948.
It is here, in the Annex house of a rich merchant Naumova and lived Pushkin during his stay in Bessarabia. This period in the poet's life was marked by the writing of famous works such as "Black shawl", which was subsequently translated into many languages and is included in various pieces of music, cycle of "Moldavian song", the message "the Daughter Karageorge". Beauty Moldova has inspired a great poet at work on a poem, which later became known as the "prisoner of the Caucasus".
The decision on opening of the Museum was made in 1946. Miraculously surviving the mansion restoration, repair lasted two years. Thirty years after the opening of the house-Museum under his needs gave two historic 19th century buildings, where there is a literary-historical halls.
Today the house-Museum of A. S. Pushkin is a unique Treasury, which still has the original testimony of the poet's life. The decor in the rooms as close as possible to that which existed during the stay in the house of Pushkin, you can see over two hundred exhibits. A special pride of the Museum are original books from the library of the poet. The attention of visitors and always attracts dueling pistol XIX century - out of this duel Pushkin in a duel. The Museum also stores a facsimile edition of the notebooks of the poet, published under the patronage of the Prince of Wales. All such publications, there are less than a thousand in the world, and two of them were transferred to Moldova (the second copy is kept in the National library).
Today, the Museum, like many years ago, hospitably opens its doors to numerous visitors.
