The city of Novocheboksarsk, founded in 1960 by merging the territory of the thirteen villages, located five kilometers from the capital of Chuvashia. The main attraction of the city is an architectural complex of the Holy Prince Vladimir, located on the Cathedral square.
The complex includes: five-meter bronze sculpture of Prince Vladimir on a granite pedestal in front of the Main gate, a stone Church, iconic shop, hotel, chapel over the spring and fountain in the center of the square. All the buildings of the square is designed in the same style of red brick in a white frame.
The first building of the square was a temple by the architect B. A. Oreshnikov, erected in 1989 on the site of the former village of the growing town absorbed surrounding villages and consecrated in honor of St. Prince Vladimir. In June 1996, the Church, with the altar of St. Vladimir and two chapels in honor of St. Nicholas and the Mother of God "quick to hearken" received the status of Cathedral. In the 1990s on the territory of the temple were built: iconic shop, a chapel and a hotel.
In 2000, the Main gates were erected the Cathedral square, and in 2003 in front of the colonnade with arches was a monument to Prince Vladimir with a plaque. The authors of the monumental figures with a huge stick-a cross in his left hand are Vinogradov architect and sculptor Igor Nemtsov.
Also in 2003, in the center of the square was a fountain opened "Memory" of the architect N. Rozhkova, established in honor of the thirteen villages that are now part of modern Novocheboksarsk. On the faces of the fountain embossed the name of the villages.
Well-maintained Cathedral square with beautiful architectural ensemble has become a favorite place for townspeople and the main attraction of Novocheboksarsk.
