Gomel state circus is the oldest and favorite entertainment establishments of Gomel. The first wooden circus appeared in the city in 1890. It was built on an Equestrian area (on the site of the present Central market) entrepreneur Slobodova. Existed this circus until 1917.

New circus building was built in 1926, but in 1932 it was transferred to the theatre. At the beginning of the war in 1941, this building burned down. After the war in Gomel came only a circus Tent. Today Gomel state circus was built in 1972. The first performance took place on 2 December 1972. In appearance Gomel circus resembles a flying saucer. Their "space" of form he received for the account of the amphitheatre auditorium, designed in 1544. In rectangular bottom floor of the building is the lobby, buffets, wardrobes and offices. In the courtyard are additional office building for the menagerie.

For circus season here give 5-6 programs. The season lasts from September to may.

At the circus there is a unique fountain, equipped with nighttime lighting. The fountain was opened after reconstruction in 2006. From may to September you can enjoy an unusual view of the dancing fountain".

At the entrance to the circus is a monument to the famous clown Karandash and his inseparable dog scatterer the Blot. The monument was opened on 1 June 2006. The height of the Pencil corresponds to a real increase artist – 1 meter 57 centimeters.
