The building of the former Royal Chancellery of Granada is located in the Plaza Nueva – the New square, which is located near the center of the city on one side and Carrera del Darro. This square is one of the main squares in the city, in addition to the Royal Chancellery there are still a few major city buildings, for example, the leaning House. In ancient times, the square was arranged various tournaments and competitions, as well as bullfights.

The Royal office was the meeting place of the Supreme court, since 1587. Throughout the 16th century, this body is gaining more influence and authority. Currently this building is the Palace of Justice.

The building of the Royal Chancellery, the construction of which was begun in 1531 by order of the king of Spain Carlos I, was the first building in Spain, built specifically to accommodate a judicial body. Rigorous and yet elegant facade of the building, designed in the Renaissance style, beautiful suits its purpose and use as the House of justice. The Royal office was built by the famous architect Francisco del Castillo porter. The paper also participated masons Martin Diaz de Navarrete and Pedro Marin, the author of the sculpture was Alonso Hernandez, lovely courtyard was created by the eminent architect Siloam Diego. The facade is decorated with arched entry, marble Doric column, top stone balustrade and cornice decorated with carved leaves, made of stone. The construction of the office was completed during the reign of Philip II in 1587.

The former Royal Palace of the Chancellery of Granada declared as a cultural monument, currently it is the seat of the Supreme court of Andalusia.
