Photo: Schlossberg
From the Schlossberg fortress, once visulaise over the city, preserved only in small fragments. The fortress was the residence of the emperors from the XV century. Three times the Turks tried to take the fortress, but all attempts were unsuccessful. Three times the city was seized by Napoleon's troops in 1809, they blew up the fortress. In 1839 there was a urban Park.
Near the castle is the Clock tower that rises just above the city roofs. Watch is very curious: the big hand shows the hours, but a small, established later, minutes. The upper part of the tower is surrounded by a covered wooden gallery.
With the Schlossberg hill and offers wonderful views of the city. Here you can walk or take the funicular.
