In the historic district of Saransk, on crossing of streets of Volgograd and Korolenko in 1974, was built Fort stylized with cast-iron guns, and in 1985 for his wall there is a statue of Yemelyan Pugachev. The author of one of a kind monument is a well-known painter and sculptor G. D. Glickman.
The location of the monument to Russian rebel was formerly known as the village Poop. The village became part of the city only in 1958, and in 1774 in aspic meadow near the river Tavla within three days (from 27 to 30 July) - the location of his tent and camp Pugachev's troops.
