Cottage Chekhov Photo: Chekhov's Dacha

Anton Pavlovich Chekhov bought this cottage in the early twentieth century – in 1900. Noisy, densely populated Yalta annoyed Chekhov, he was looking for a quiet place to relax. So purchased this house in Gurzuf.

According to the will of Chekhov (he totaled his 03.08.1901 years), a dacha in Gurzuf was inherited to O. L. Knipper, his wife. Every summer she came and lived in the Villa. During the civil war in this house was visited by the actors group Kachalov, they have been touring across the southern regions of Russia. Visited here in later years I. Kozlovsky, N. Dorliak and S. Richter, O. Yefremov. Next door to the cottage Knipper lived the famous Pushkin scholars I. Medvedev and Boris Tomashevsky, settled near L. Knipper, a famous composer who wrote the song "Polyushko-field". In 1953 Knipper last time I was at his dacha. And after the death of O. L. Knipper cottage moved to the House of creativity of the name Korovin.

Cottage Chekhov in 1987 became a branch of the Museum of the writer in Yalta. Every year there are exhibitions devoted to Chekhov, and art exhibitions. They traditionally open in April and will be shown until November.

One room of the Museum since 1996 memorial exposition devoted about Knipper and Anton Chekhov, in other literature materials about the process of writing the play "Three sisters". Museum visitors can see copies of individual pages of manuscript, photographs of people who were the prototypes of the characters, the very first edition of "the Three sisters".

The most interesting stories about the opening of the play in 1901 at the Moscow art Theatre, as well as photographs of theatrical scenes and performers. The Museum also exhibits props, business cards artists. Preserved documents about the production of the play "Three sisters" in 1940. Director plamy – V. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, this version of the play stayed on stage for more than half a century.

The exhibition, called "Chekhov", opened in the third room of the Museum in 1999. Members of the family, friends, relatives – heroes are exhibited here photographs, drawings and documents. You can see reproductions of portraits of Chekhov, created by famous artists: portrait of Chekhov in his youth, written by Nicholas, his brother (1884); portrait of a young writer's brush I. Levitan, the portrait of I. Braz, written for the Tretyakov gallery (1898); the portrait of V. Serov (1902). This Museum contains a huge amount of unknown photographs previously exhibited in the Yalta House Museum.
